The Siachen Glacier is located in the eastern Karakoram range in the Himalaya Mountains, just northeast of the point where the Line of Control between India and Pakistan ends. The Siachen Glacier became a bone of contention following a vague demarcation of territory as per the Simla Agreement of 1972, which did not exactly specify who had authority over the Siachen Glacier area.
