ContributeLast week, in a gathering that was as much an anniversary as it was a continuation of their year-old campaign to reclaim the night as women students, supporters of Pinjra Tod gathered for an all-night vigil. It was going peacefully until Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members entered the scene.
On September 23, their one-year anniversary, the Pinjra Tod collective led an all-night protest march in Delhi University. Started as a Facebook page in 2015, the collective has since grown into a movement that has mobilised women to fight against gender discrimination on campuses in Delhi.
