On Saturday, a bus carrying 45 Central Reserve Paramilitary Forces (CRPF) soldiers of Road Opening Party were ambushed by at least two terrorists. Eight soldiers were killed and 22 were injured in this attack. Two terrorists were neutralised in the retaliatory action. However, the incident became a tug of war between the CRPF and the Army since both claimed the credit for neutralising the slain terrorists.

According to news agency Press Trust of India, though, the CRPF claimed that Army troopers reached the spot after the encounter was over and clicked selfies with the bodies of the slain militants. They also said Army men took away weapons that were returned later. The issue was reported to senior Army officials.
This was followed by a change in the Army’s version of the account.
