Assamese News channel Pratidin Time is at it again. Last year, it was about the clothes women in the state choose to wear, this time it’s about how women in Assam lost their moral compass under the previous regime. We didn’t make that up.
The media must be free and fair, uninfluenced by corporate or state interests. That's why you, the public, need to pay to keep news free.
ContributeThe news package is essentially an ode to the new Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who is referred to as “the last hope” of Assam. It also says the earlier governments looted and plundered the state. Apparently, according to Pratidin Time, they also corrupted the women in the state and taught them to be “bereft of character”.
Here’s what it says at 3:02, as translated from a change.org petition:
“…girls do something in their offices
we only hear rumors
if their return home late
or do not return at all
we can’t even say anything
our democracy has taught us to be bereft of character…”.
The state may have hope in the new CM, but clearly the media has none with the likes of Pratidin Time functioning as legit news channels.
