A CRPF camp came under attack by stone-pelters in Jammu and Kashmir. The protesters pelted stones at the camp and defence forces retaliated by shooting two teargas bombs, according to a report in Dainik Jagran.
The camp is located in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. Two CRPF personnel have been injured in the incident.
The protesters were reportedly raising slogans hailing Zakir Moosa, an ex-commander of Hizbul Mujahideen and now an alleged militant with Al Qaeda.
This attack comes days after a mob lynched Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammed Ayub Pandith outside Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid.
Attacks on the army have intensified in the past few months in the valley such as the abduction and killing of Lt. Umar Fayaz from a marriage ceremony in Kulgam town on May 9. His body was found on the morning of May 10, according to Firstpost.com. Add to this, the massacre and mutilation of six Jammu and Kashmir Policemen in Anantnag district on June 17. The attack took place within hours of the killing of top Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Junaid Mattoo elsewhere in Anantnag district. Heavily armed terrorists attacked a police patrol and killed several policemen, including the SHO of Achabal police station, Feroz Ahmad Dar.
