Over the past week or so, Biplab Kumar Deb, chief minister of Tripura, has been somewhat of a gift that keeps on giving. From expounding on the presence of Internet during the times of Mahabharata to saying that only civil engineers are suited for civil services, because, you know, the word civil prefixes both these occupations — Deb has, umm, put his best fanciful foot forward.

Now, it appears that he may get an earful from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who very recently urged party members to not give masala to media with unwarranted utterances. Deb will be part of a meeting of all chief ministers with PM Modi on May 2 to plan events scheduled for the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in October. Modi may “reprimand” Deb in this meeting according to “sources” NDTV spoke to. The report also states that some BJP leaders have raised concerns on Deb campaigning in the upcoming Karnataka elections. We’re just sad that the PM giving an earful to Deb will deny us a peek into the very entertaining mind of Tripura CM. But we guess there will always be other leaders — just today Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani spoke of the similarities between Narad Muni and Google. Jai ho.
