Subscription Growth Manager

The person will work closely with the product team to engage, retain and acquire new subscribers. You will design and execute campaigns that form the core of Newslaundry’s outreach and engagement strategy.

Applicants should have experience in drawing online strategies for a publisher/organisation, having preferably implemented programmes from scratch. The applicants must have strong communication skills and a knack for numbers to track and review growth on subscriptions

Front-end Developer

Tech is at the heart of what we are trying to scale. A subscription-driven model that’s truly economically viable can only be achieved if we optimize the available tech to engage our subscribers and readers.

We are looking for a React.js / React Native Developer.

Your primary focus will be developing iOS and Android apps. You will be working on user interface components and implementing them, following React.js workflows such as Flux or Redux.

Responsibilities

  • Building iOS/Android phone app
  • Developing new user-facing features using React.js
  • Building reusable components and front-end libraries for future use
  • Translating designs and wireframes into high quality code
  • Optimizing components for maximum performance across a vast array of web-capable devices and browsers
  • Building custom story page and inteactives with data visualizations

Requirements

  • Proficiency in JavaScript, React, and React-Native
  • An understanding of advanced JavaScript concepts like Closures, Promises, Async/await
  • Experience with setting up build/development tools such as. Webpack, Babel, Prettier, ESLint, npm
  • Familiarity with Native app build tools (Gradle, CocoaPods, XCode, Android Studio).
  • An in-depth understanding of cross-browser compatibility
  • Thorough understanding of HTML5 (writing semantic markup) and CSS3
  • Knowledge of D3.js or any visualization library is a plus

Internships

Editorial

Who: Anyone who breathes news more than the scarce oxygen in Delhi's atmosphere. Should be diligent in research work and be an absolute news junkie.

What: The intern will work with the Newslaundry editorial team. S/he will be involved with research, data gathering work. Opportunities will also be available for reporting stories from the field.

Social Media

Who: You know how to make the best of social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. If you know what it takes to be a successful publisher on these online platforms and track hashtags for fun, you are someone we would want to meet and work with.

What: The intern will be the support system of the Newslaundry publishing team. Newslaundry publishes on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. The intern will be required to create content for these platforms.

Tech

Who: Tesla is your role model. You are big on big data. Everything in the world is either a 1 or a 0 to your mind's eye.

What: Google analytics will be your friend and the tech team down at Newslaundry will be your guide. You will be part of that indispensable force that makes Newslaundry, Newslaundry (quite literally).
