The Wall Street Journal bags the first interview with PM, while desi papers make do with front-page ads
While most desi newspapers have got front- and full-page ads today by the Modi Sarkar commemorating two years of acche din, it was a firangi paper — The Wall Street Journal — that bagged the first exclusive interview with the PM. Speaking with WSJ Editor-in-Chief Gerard Baker at his residence, Modi stated that he has “actually undertaken maximum reforms”. Reiterating his commitment towards labour reforms, he also said: “Labor reform should not just mean in the interest of industry” but “also be in the interest of the laborer.” WSJ also put out a report card along with the interview, the blurb of which stated that “most major indicators” suggest the country’s economy is in “better shape” now than it was before Modi took over. You can read the edited excerpts of the interview here. Now, wondering when our homegrown media organisations will get a chance to interview the PM. For now it’s just a press release in the form of ads.
