Swadesi dress code for Sambhal DM’s office
In a surprise move, the District Magistrate (DM) of Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, NKS Chauhan has banned jeans and T-shirt for government employees during working hours so that the “dignity of the office” can be maintained.
“The collectorate is not an ‘aisa-waisa’ (ordinary) place where you come in jeans and a T-shirt,” said the DM. He has also barred the employees from smoking tobacco and chewing paan in office premises. Even the official functions have not been spared, as Chauhan has strictly directed the workers to only wear formals.
And though the DM did not provide any specifics as to what kind of clothes the employees should wear, he strictly maintained that that the employees will look more serious at work if they are wearing “Hindustani” clothes. He has even gone ahead and appointed senior officials of the department to look out for any dress code violations.
