Jharkhand BJP chief’s son accused of sexual exploitation, child marriage
Barely a month after Tala Marandi became the chief of Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Jharkhand unit, his son finds himself in the centre of a controversy. While Congress has accused Munna Marandi of marrying a minor, another minor filed a complaint against him with the state women’s commission (SCW) on Wednesday
In her complaint, the tribal girl accused Munna of sexually exploiting her for two years on pretext of marriage. Taking cognisance of the matter, SCW chairperson Dr Mahua Maji wrote to DGP DK Pandey. “We had filed a case seeking registration of FIR… On June 23, the court had asked Boarijore police station in Godda to investigate the matter,” said her lawyer Pramod Sharma.
Due to this accusation, Munna’s bride-to-be refused to marry him. On June 27, the Jharkhand BJP chief discreetly got his son married off to a girl from his community in Simra, leading to Godda Congress chief Deepika Pandey Singh crying foul.
