Netas all set for aerial campaigns during UP Polls

Uttar Pradesh election will bring acche din for charter companies. Given our netas penchant to woo voters via air trips, parties across the political spectrum are booking helicopters as a result of which rentals might see a 15 per cent spike, when compared to Bihar election. According to Economic Times, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which clinched 71 of 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh in 2014, is set to book 12 helicopters to cover the state.

Governing Samajwadi Party stands second in the line and is eyeing at least six helicopters for its leaders such as Mulayam Singh Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav, Azam Khan.

Interestingly, Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is not quite taken in with the idea of aerial campaigning and has negotiated for three helicopters. Voters might see Congress ka Hath (symbol) whirling around the state in four choppers.

While rentals for single engine choppers might vary between Rs 70,000 to Rs 90,000 per hour, rentals of VIP chopper, that is double engine, vary between Rs 1 to 2.5 lakh per hour.

Eurocopter 155 and AugustaWestland aw 139 are the among favourite two engine choppers that can seat six to eight persons.  Bell 429, 412 and AugustaWestland 109 are also likely to be used too during aerial campaigns.
