Explainer of Ishrat Jahan case since 2004: A timeline
Over the last few weeks, the Ishrat Jahan case has made headlines again. The mystery surrounding the deaths of 19-year-old Ishrat and three men has got curiouser and curiouser over the last 12 years, with top officials of Intelligence Bureau, bureaucrats and politicians, like our current prime minister and former home minister, being involved in it. Each time there’s been a revelation, it’s only served to complicate this case instead of resolving it. So here’s a brief history of what happened to Ishrat Jahan and why an alleged encounter killing from 2004 is still relevant in 2016.
