Events seem to have reached full circle as far as sedition in Jawaharlal Nehru University goes.

After shouting slogans that were allegedly seditious, giving the police the runaround, surrendering to them and cooling their heels in jail for 24 days, JNU students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya have been granted interim bail by Patiala House court today.

The interim bail grants Khalid and Bhattacharya reprieve for six months, during which time the two cannot leave Delhi.

They also have to sign a bail bond of Rs. 25,000 individually, along with a surety of the same amount. 

Khalid and Bhattacharya are accused of sedition because they were allegedly shouting anti-national slogans on February 9, at a student gathering in JNU. Both slipped under the radar after Kanhaiya Kumar was arrested. Khalid emerged rather dramatically on February 21 and after an all-night vigil held by the university students, he and Bhattacharya were finally arrested on February 24. The two were expected to get bail after Kumar was granted interim bail on March 2.
