Chase, for stories that are edgy, new and awesome
For most of us, headhunting is what people who identify the right person for the right job, do. Deep in the jungles of Arunachal Pradesh, however, the phrase is taken far more literally by some tribes. The story of a region where the last surviving head hunters — people who were part of groups that literally scalped human heads — is one of the documentaries that is part of Chase, a collaboration between Newslaundry and Scoopwhoop.
For these online films, journalists have travelled across the county, followed leads, answered questions and witnessed action that will keep you at the edge of your seat. Why are ISIS flags showing up in Kashmir? Who’s making them? How rich are bouncers from the bouncer village of India? Did you know exorcism of ‘mad’ women is almost an industry in India? Where in the country is it still legal to make firearms and gunpowder at home? Do you know the journey a bottle of Black Label Scotch whiskey makes to get from Scotland to the shelf to your bar to your scrap to a refill adda and then back on the shelf and to another bar? We’ll show you all this. There are these stories and more, on Chase.
