Guess who’s appeasing Muslims this iftar?
Word is that Congress president Sonia Gandhi, known for her generally well-attended Iftar parties, is not holding one this year. Some reports are attributing the move to a conscious decision taken by the party to mark a shift from their “minority appeasing” image. Reportedly, the party will instead distribute Ramzan kits among the poor in view of the drought. Last year, Sonia Gandhi’s Iftar saw a full house, with representatives of nine Opposition parties in attendance.
Meanwhile, the RSS’ Muslim body, the Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), plans to hold a full-fledged Iftar bash, with invites being sent to 140 countries. And guess what, Shiv Sena has accused the RSS and the BJP of “Muslim appeasement”. #GolmaalDin
