VYAPAM Scam: CBI to go ahead with lie detector test
The ghost of VYAPAM scam — Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam — continues to haunt Madhya Pradesh. It’s been over a year now that Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation of multi-crore medical admission and recruitment scam on the direction of Supreme Court. Now it is likely to conduct polygraph test on the suspects- specifically students booked for fraud by Madhya Pradesh Special Task Force.
According to Times of India, by the end of this month a special team from CBI headquarter, Delhi will be sent to its VYAPAM unit in Bhopal to conduct the lie detector test on the suspects. “Let them face a polygraph test and prove their innocence,” said a CBI officer. The investigative agency has already started the legal proceedings for the test.
In July, a special court has allowed CBI to go ahead with polygraph test of Deepak Goswami, an accused in the case, related to pre medical test (PMT) of 2009.
There are over 4,200 accused in the case in as many as 155 First Information Reports filed. Forty eight people connected to the scam have already died.
