How to condole Subramanian Swamy-style? Praise yourself
It is a day of solemn condolences and mourning for Tamil Nadu and indeed the entire country. Virtually every news organisation has carried obituaries remembering the life and times of J Jayalalithaa, along with front-page coverage. Amid all the grief, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy has provided us — we can speak for ourselves at Newslaundry at least – with some comic relief. Speaking to DP Satish of News18, Swamy has put out an obituary of sorts, which basically talks about how great he is. Don’t believe us? Read on.
After praising Amma for her courage and intelligence, Swamy goes on to state in the second paragraph that: “Jayalalithaa had a huge admiration for my scholarship. She respected my knowledge and my abilities. She really admired me.” He adds that, “the evil influence of Sasikala Natarajan ruined all that.” Swamy wouldn’t be Swamy if he didn’t hint at conspiracy or make doomsday declarations. In the piece, he states that the AIADMK will “explode” after this because: “Her successor O Panneerselvam won’t be able to run the government. Because Sasikala won’t let anyone grow.”
