JNU student confronts caste oppression through his music
Sumeet Samos, a 23-year-old student of Latin American studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), raps about oppression faced by the Dalit community. His songs have been widely appreciated since he began sharing them on Facebook, three months ago. He addresses social issues such as manual scavenging, caste discrimination in higher education, suicides of by Dalit and Bahujan students, and other issues affecting the community.
