POCSO case against CRPF personnel for alleged Chhattisgarh molestation
The Chattisgarh Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act against unidentified members of the Central Reserve Police Force for allegedly molesting schoolgirls during a CRPF-organised Raksha Bandhan programme in a government school in Dantewada’s Palnar village.
A five-member district-level committee had been constituted to investigate the July 31 incident after which a case was registered against the CRPF personnel on Monday, August 8.
“The allegation is that some girls went to the toilet during the programme. Two men in uniform met them and said they were to be frisked. One person then touched them,” said Abhishek Pallava, Additional SP (Dantewada).
“The children told their principal, and a case was registered under Section 354 IPC and POCSO,” Pallava added.
Official statements are yet to be recorded, The Indian Express quoted the police as saying.
