Lack of oxygen in hospital kills 30 children in UP CM’s Lok Sabha constituency
30 children died in Gorakhpur’s BRD Medical College due to a shortage of oxygen in the hospital. While 10 children were admitted to the neonatal unit of the hospital, 10 others were in the Encephalitis unit.
It appears to be a case of negligence by the hospital management. According to Hindi daily Hindustan, the oxygen supply agency had allegedly stopped supplying liquid oxygen since over Rs 6o lakh was due. While the hospital had run out of liquid oxygen on August 10, it also ran out of oxygen cylinders on Friday. Notably, this is Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Lok Sabha constituency and is infamous for deaths due to Japanese Encephalitis.
