#MumbaiRains: Mumbai prepares for worst rain since 2005

Incessant rains in Mumbai have caused severe waterlogging in low-lying areas and has resulted in traffic snarls. Local trains plying on Western Railways have also been cancelled due to the rains.

“The metropolis has received heavy rainfall since last night. Between 8.30 am and 12 pm today, the city received 85 mm rainfall,” Sudhir Naik, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, told PTI.

The Met department has predicted that the next 48 hours of the rains would be severe and has advised people not to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary. Multiple flights are also being delayed by several minutes, due to the rains.

Reports claim that with high tide likely in the evening at 4.30pm, the situation could take a turn for the worse if the rains continue.
