Hadiya testimony in Supreme Court on November 27
The Supreme Court has asked Hadiya alias Akhila Ashokan of the Kerala Love Jihad case be produced before the court on November 27 so that she can give her testimony whether she had consented to her marriage to Shafin Jahan.
Hearing Jahan’s petition seeking the overturning of the Kerala High Court annulling their marriage, the court said Hadiya is an adult at age 24 and therefore her consent was enough for her to marry any one she wished.
Her testimony will be in open court after Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra refused the pleas of Hadiya’s father Ashokan KM that her testimony be kept in-camera.
Recently, a video had surfaced where she asked activist Rahul Eashwar to rescue her from her father whom she said was beating and kicking her.
The National Investigation Agency, which is investigating the love jihad angle, said there has been indoctrination and radicalisation in such marriages. The agency said experts in hypnosis have been deployed to manipulate the women.
