In a gruesome case, a 42-year-old woman and her 11-year-old daughter were found dead with their heads bludgeoned and stab marks on the face and neck, at their 14th-floor home in Greater Noida West late on Tuesday.
According to a report in The Indian Express that quoted the police, the victims are suspected to have been stabbed with scissors, beaten with a cricket bat and killed on Monday night. The prime suspect is the family’s missing 16-year-old son, and a bloodstained bat, scissors and clothes, believed to be of the boy, were found at the house.
“We are looking at CCTV footage and electronic surveillance. The son is seen leaving the flat around 11.15 pm on Monday night, carrying a backpack. No other person is seen entering or leaving the flat,” a senior police officer was quoted as saying.
The four-bedroom apartment is inside a gated housing society and was home to a businessman, who lived with his wife, two kids and parents who were not in town. The businessman too was in Gujarat for work and raised an alarm after phone calls to his wife went unanswered.
“The bodies were found in the bedroom on Tuesday night, but the murders appear to have been committed between 8.30 pm and 11.15 pm on Monday. Their heads and faces were smashed. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. An FIR against unidentified persons under IPC Section 302 (murder) has been registered. We have received some important leads in the case and action is likely to be taken soon,” Gautam Buddha Nagar SSP Love Kumar said, according to the report. Cash of Rs 1.5-2 lakh was also found missing from the house.
