Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi’s interviews get Tweeples talking

Two interview by members of the Gandhi parivar have got Tweeples talking. The first was Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s outing at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy where he spoke and took questions — one of which has generated a bit of a controversy. The second was former Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s speech and chat with India Today Group Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Aroon Purie at the India Today Conclave.

Sonia Gandhi is not known to give interviews and one rarely saw her interact with journalists one-on-one during the United Progressive Alliance tenure. Her interaction with Purie, though, has her talking candidly on a range of issues — the Congress’ failure and future, her initial reluctance to get into politics and so on.

Talking about Congress’ electoral losses, she said the party was “out marketed” by the BJP in the 2014 General Elections and that it needs to find new ways to connect with people. She received a standing ovation once her interaction concluded.
