Former deputy Shakha Pramukh of the Shiv Sena, Sachin Sawant, was shot dead in Kurar’s Gokul Nagar area, Malad, on Sunday night allegedly by two unidentified persons on a motorbike. Sawant was immediately rushed to the Shatabdi hospital nearby, where he was announced dead on arrival. The Kurar police are investigating the matter and one person was held for questioning. This is the third such incident. Previously, on April 7, two Sena leaders — Sanjay Kotkar and Vasant Thube — were shot and stabbed to death, following which another Sena worker, Shailesh Nimse, was murdered.
