Sita as a test tube baby: Just another day in the mind of a BJP leader
Sita was born through a concept similar to test tube babies, Uttar Pradesh’s deputy chief minister, Dinesh Sharma, said on Friday. The deputy minister was speaking at an event on skill development.
With these comments, Sharma joins a long list of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders who have courted controversies for their, umm, fanciful remarks. Speaking at the event, Sharma had said, “People say Sitaji was born from an earthen pot, which means at the time of Ramayana, a concept similar to test tube baby must have existed.”
This, however, is not the first time that Sharma has made such claims. Earlier, speaking at an event to mark ‘Hindi Journalism Day’, the minister had also claimed that journalism was alive and kicking since the days of Mahabharata. The BJP minister also equated Narada with the present-day Google, Hindustan Times reported.
