Ola Cab driver molests passenger in Bengaluru
Earlier today, an Ola Cab driver was arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly molesting a woman passenger. A case against the driver has since been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The woman, a 26-year-old architect, called for the taxi from her home, and was on her way to the airport when the incident took place. NDTV reports that the driver took an unexpected detour on the way to the airport, claiming that it was a faster route, and stopped the car at a deserted location not far from the airport. “The woman has told the police that the driver stopped the car at a deserted spot near the airport, locked her in and assaulted her. He allegedly snatched her phone and threatened to call his friends and have her gang-raped if she alerted anyone,” the report states.
After the event, the woman sent an email with the details of the incident to the police.The driver was arrested within three hours. Ola has since released a statement saying, “We regret the unfortunate experience the customer had during the ride. We have zero tolerance for such incidents and the driver has been blacklisted from the platform as an immediate action.
