Narendra Modi awarded the 2018 Seoul Peace Prize, demonetisation and ‘Modinomics’ lauded
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the 2018 Seoul Peace Prize today, instituted by the Seoul Peace Prize Committee.
According to a press release from the Ministry of External Affairs, the Award Committee “recognised Prime Minister Modi’s contributions to the growth of the Indian and global economies, crediting ‘Modinomics’ for reducing social and economic disparity between the rich and the poor”, and commended his initiatives to “make the government cleaner through anti-corruption measures and demonetisation”. Modi was also credited for his “contribution to regional and global peace”.
Former recipients of the awards include Angela Merkel (2014), Muhammad Yunis (2006) and Oxfam (2002).
