PM Modi’s op-ed on #StatueOfUnity appears across national and regional dailies
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s op-ed on the significance of the legacy of Sadar Patel and the 182-metre tall Unity Statue appeared across major newspapers today. The Indian Express, The Times of India, dna, The Tribune and Hindustan Times carried the op-ed. A notable exception if not a surprising one was The Telegraph. Deccan Herald too did not carry the piece. Ditto Deccan Chronicle, which carried a piece by Mohan Guruswamy instead calling the Patel statue a “tawdry attempt to rewrite history”.
The Hindu meanwhile had a piece by Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu. Hindi dailies like Dainik Jagran, Navbharat Times, Rajasthan Patrika, Amar Ujala also carried the op-ed. Moreover, even regional dailies like Mathrubhoomi carried Modi’s op-ed.
