Journalist files police complaint against Thiruvananthapuram Press Club secretary, alleges harassment

A woman journalist filed a police complaint against the secretary of the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club for allegedly forcing his way into her house with a group of people and physically assaulting her.

The News Minute reports that the woman says M Radhakrishnan, who is a proofreader at the newspaper where she works, barged into her house with a man and a few other people, “insinuating a relationship” between the man and the woman journalist.

The report says: “Creating a traumatic situation for Sowmya [name changed] and her children for around an hour, Radhakrishnan began inspecting the bedroom and even the kitchen. According to the complaint filed by Sowmya, Radhakrishnan forcefully pushed her and the children to the bedroom. The group made Ramesh sit on a chair in the living room and started beating him. Seeing this from the bedroom, Sowmya asked them not to beat him. The complaint also said that Radhakrishnan physically assaulted Sowmya.”

The journalist’s husband, who is also a journalist, was not home at the time. The journalist and her husband later filed a police complaint at Pettah police station, and she filed a complaint with her newspaper. The journalist alleged Radhakrishnan “developed an enmity towards her” after the September election to the Kerala Union of Working Journalists.
