Rape accused ET Now anchor slapped with arrest warrant
A Delhi court has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for ET NOW anchor Varun Hiremath, 28, who is accused of raping a 22-year woman.
Hiremath is absconding since the complaint against him was filed on February 23. He had applied for anticipatory bail last month but his plea was turned down, with the court noting that “consent cannot be implied from a victim’s previous sexual experiences with the accused”.
The complaint accuses the TV anchor of raping the woman in a Delhi hotel on February 20.
The police say Hiremath is “evading the investigation”. They have sent teams to Mumbai and conducted raids at various places in an attempt to apprehend the journalist.
