Navigating the second wave
NL webinar: Testing mechanisms and myths around Covid
To discuss the effectiveness of testing mechanisms and myths around Covid-19, Newslaundry’s Meghnad S is joined by Dr Jammi Rao, a public health physician and visiting professor at Staffordshire University.
Rao notes that in the middle of this second wave, the need for testing is less clinical and more epidemiological. He emphasises that "waiting for the test result should not come as an excuse in the early stages of the infection".
He also talks about the workability of antigen tests, the distinction between bacterial and viral pneumonia, and the lack of testing and other facilities in rural areas. Rao also unpacks the myths around the usage of plasma therapy and Remdesivir.
