Mercy Angels: Meet Covid volunteers who ensure dignity in death
We spent an afternoon following Tanveer Ahmed, a volunteer at Mercy Angels, an NGO in Bangalore. Everyday for the last three months, as the second Covid wave has wreaked devastation, Tanveer and his friends have woken up to bury the dead. They pick up the body, transport it and coordinate with cremation or burial grounds to ensure the family bids a dignified farewell to their loved one.
We spoke to Tanveer about why he does what he does and if the communal comments made recently by Bangalore South MP, Tejasvi Surya of the BJP, have affected them in any manner.
Watch.
