Two journalists arrested in Raipur after complaint from Congress MLAs
Chhattisgarh police have arrested a journalist and technical assistant on Monday, after two Congress MLAs filed a complaint, alleging that the duo published “misleading and baseless” information about them, the Indian Express reported.
Journalist Madhukar Dubey runs a web portal called zeroparty.in and Avinash Palliwar is his technical assistant. The allegations against them have been made by Congress MLAs Brihaspat Singh and Kuldeep Juneja.
According to the report, Dubey and Palliwar have been booked under different sections of the IPC. Some of the charges include extortion, punishment for extortion, threat of injury to public servant, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace, punishment for criminal intimidation and printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory.
Both of them were produced in court following their arrest and have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days. They are being held in the Civil Lines police station in Raipur.
