Explained: What is the SSC scam and what does it mean for West Bengal politics?
Over the past weeks, the West Bengal public education system has been under legal scrutiny. Both the CBI and the ED are presently investigating a multi-crore corruption scam involving the Staff Selection Commission and thousands of illegal appointments. Partha Chatterjee, one of the most influential ministers in Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet, was arrested for his alleged involvement and has now been suspended by the party.
