DD News journalist alleges he was ‘thrashed’ by Delhi school employees, FIR filed: Indian Express
An FIR has been filed against employees of a government school in Delhi’s Bhajanpura after a DD News journalist claimed he and his colleagues were “thrashed and their camera broken at the school”, the Indian Express reported today.
According to the police, the journalist is a “senior correspondent” at DD News. He was reporting from the school with an assistant and cameraperson when “some teachers objected to it and obstructed them”, “snatched their camera”, and “manhandled them”.
The journalist filed a complaint and an FIR was registered.
However, the report added, the police also said a case had been registered based on a complaint from a teacher at the school “who alleged the journalist forcefully entered the school and assaulted staffers”. An investigation is underway.
Doordarshan prides itself on its “quality content”, as union minister Anurag Thakur told the Rajya Sabha earlier this month. But is this claim rooted in fact? Some of the shows on DD News might surprise you – and not in a good way.
