‘You have experience of court proceedings’: Congress leader to Aman Chopra over ‘fake’ tweet

Former union minister and Congress leader Jitendra Singh has asked anchor Aman Chopra to take down a tweet or ostensibly face legal action.

The News18 anchor had shared a video of the Congress leader at the Bharat Jodo Yatra, in which he is seen bending down next to Rahul Gandhi and other party leaders. This video was earlier posted by BJP’s IT cell chief Amit Malviya and several party leaders, who claimed that Rahul Gandhi had made the former union minister tie his shoelaces.

In a similar jibe at alleged nepotism and sycophancy within the Congress, Chopra said the back patted by Rahul Gandhi was a former union minister’s.

However, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate later shared another video to clarify that Singh was only tying his shoelaces while calling Malviya a “liar”.

Alwar asked Malviya to “delete the tweet and apologise to [Rahul Gandhi] or face legal action”. In a similar tweet directed at Chopra, he said, “Mr Aman Chopra kindly take the tweet down. I am sure you would be having experience about court proceedings.”

The anchor had earlier faced legal action in Rajasthan for “outraging religious sentiments” through his show alleging destruction of a temple in Alwar in Congress-governed Rajasthan as a revenge for the Jahangirpuri demolition drive. In October, the Congress had said that none of its spokespersons will go on News18 India anchor Aman Chopra’s show. The party’s head of media and publicity Pawan Khera said in a tweet that this will be the party’s “insignificant contribution in preventing the spread of poison in the society”.
