TV Newsance 199: How Modi won 2024 General Elections in 2023
This week, we look at how channels gave PM Modi’s 1-km-long roadshow in Delhi breathless coverage. We were told about the PM’s “personal connect” with BJP karyakartas, his “vishwaguru” status, and how Rahul Gandhi’s T-shirt simply fails in comparison with Modi magic. We look at how opposition leaders such as Rahul Gandhi are presented as bumbling fools, and how a wide section of mainstream TV news media has become part of BJP’s election machinery. News and public interest are casualties.
