The Pawan Kalyan factor in Andhra Pradesh

In the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, politics can never be complete without star power. From NT Rama Rao to Chiranjeevi, Vijayashanthi, Roja and Balakrishna, many actors have transitioned to politics. 

But this election is a big one for one star, Pawan Kalyan, whose Jana Sena Party hopes to win its first Lok Sabha seat this time in alliance with the TDP and BJP. But what about his party’s position of politics without discrimination and the shift from the previous alliance with the Left? “It is like surfing on a wave..you have to manage,” he says, when asked about the new alliance.
