HC grants anticipatory bail to Bhavani Revanna, cautions against media trial
Granting anticipatory bail to Prajwal Revanna’s mother Bhavani Revanna, the Karnataka High Court has warned against a “media trial”, LiveLaw reported. “Because, when we...common man read newspapers they believe it. Print media, social media in case of a woman should be cautious, they should not disturb the family life,” it reportedly said.
Bhavani Revanna faces a kidnapping case involving one of the former JDS MP’s sexual assault victims. She is accused of trying to prevent a woman from filing a complaint.
The court said she had already answered 85 questions during the SIT probe into the alleged sexual abuse. A single judge bench of Justice Krishna S Dixit reportedly said, “I have marched a step forward in protecting a woman from unnecessary or avoidable custody.”
The court, however, said that Bhavani Revanna will not enter the districts of Mysore and Hassan under any circumstances except for the purpose of the probe.
The court had on June 14 reserved its order and had continued the interim protection till the final decision.
