NL@13: Madhu Trehan interviews Karan Thapar. Can he take it?
It was February 2012.
Beyoncé and Jay Z had just welcomed their first baby, Abhishek Bachchan’s Players bombed at the box office, and Newslaundry launched in Delhi, with a revenue model that was both baffling and path-breaking.
Barely a week after we launched, Madhu Trehan did her now legendary interview with Karan Thapar. Playing devil’s advocate always came naturally to Karan, but could he handle being on the other side?
As we turn 13, we’re re-releasing this interview from our archives because it’s an example of everything we’ve always been and will continue to be – combative, fearless, and always asking questions.
