Newsance 285: Media’s ‘holy dip’ with Modi, a tale of two Parliament speeches
While Delhi residents went to the polls this week, the Prime Minister was at the Maha Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj. Along with him went all the mainstream media’s cameras and reporters to talk about how, where, why and what exactly Modi was thinking when he took the holy dip. Channels tried their best to make everyone forget about the tragic stampede days before by focusing on how there was no VIP culture and nobody was impacted by PM Modi’s snaan.
We watched channels scold people who were being “negative” about the Kumbh stampede, and praise Yogi Adityanath and his “war room” for carefully overlooking the Kumbh preparations on Basant Panchami. We also received super helpful Kumbh selfie tips from Aaj Tak!
Also this week, the budget session commenced in Parliament, we saw news channels cover both Rahul Gandhi and Modi’s speeches – but in very different tones. They went all out to heap praise over the PM’s speech. Our beloved RSS was super impressed at how Modiji attacked the opposition without even saying their names!
This and much more. Watch.
We have a new NL Sena project and we need your help. We are sending reporters to Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand to report on how some regions are becoming laboratories for Hindutva. Your support will help send us on our way. Click here to contribute.
