Watch: Behind the Kiran Bedi Tapes
This week, a months-long investigation by Newslaundry and The News Minute revealed how Kiran Bedi used Delhi Police officials to surveil her daughter over a suspected visa scam. Based on 30 hours of tapes and hundreds of leaked emails, the story also uncovered a chilling detail: a possible lead in the 2003 Swiss diplomat rape case that was never followed.
In this video, The News Minute editor-in-chief Dhanya Rajendran speaks to Newslaundry’s Sumedha Mittal and Nikita Saxena, who edited the report, about the significance of the Kiran Bedi Tapes. They also talk about the challenges the team of journalists faced as well as the major aspects of the investigation.
