Sansad Watch: Taxation bills passed without debate amid INDIA Bloc protests
In this episode of Sansad Watch, we recap a fiery Parliament session where the heat inside the House was matched by tensions outside it.
The INDIA bloc staged protests within and outside Parliament, demanding a debate on vote theft allegations and the special intensive revision (SIR) of voter rolls in Bihar. The government, meanwhile, pushed through two bills – the Income-Tax (No. 2) Bill and the Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill – in the Lok Sabha without discussion, raising privacy concerns among experts.
Speaker Om Birla’s actions in the House also echoed those of former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, whose move in a similar situation had once led to his resignation. And beyond Parliament, we bring you the story of how Yogi Adityanath managed to outmaneuver Amit Shah.
