‘We’ve lost all faith’: Another NEET fiasco leaves aspiring doctors devastated
The cancellation of the NEET exam has left lakhs of medical aspirants angry, exhausted, and unsure of what lies ahead. While the National Testing Agency has announced a re-test and fee refunds, students, parents, and teachers say the damage goes far beyond logistics: their trust in the system has collapsed.
Pushkar, a student from Bihar, has spent three years preparing for NEET. This was his second attempt. “After the exam, I was certain I would get into a good college. My family believed they would finally see ‘Dr.’ before my name. Now that faith is gone.”
Lovely, who moved from Sonipat to Delhi for coaching, says she sacrificed everything to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. “I studied until 1:30 every night after school and coaching. There was a paper leak in 2024, and now it has happened again. It has completely broken our confidence.”
Dr Nitin Chaudhary of Srijan Institute says the education minister must take full responsibility and ensure that no student’s future is put at risk again.
Paper leak allegations had also surfaced in 2024, prompting an investigation by the CBI and assurances that stricter safeguards would be introduced. Yet the scandal has returned, reportedly on an even larger scale, leaving students wondering whether merit still matters.
