Delhi metro closures are hurting more than just commuters

For the third consecutive day, 16 Delhi Metro stations remain closed, disrupting the daily commute for thousands across the capital.

Office-goers are bearing the brunt, with long traffic jams, overcrowded roads, and limited transport alternatives. While interchanges remain open at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat, entry and exit at the affected stations continue to be suspended for security reasons.

Many commuters told us they had no prior information about the closures, while others complained of being charged inflated fares by auto-rickshaw drivers for even short distances. At the same time, the shutdown has also hurt the livelihoods of auto and cycle-rickshaw drivers who depend on metro footfall for their daily income.
