Ravish Kumar on the need for the media to question authority
Ravish of NDTV spoke about the danger of a frightened media and how it is important for media to always question the government in power. He elaborated on news channels who never go out to report on serious issues such as places that have no water, no medical access yet are passing judgment and labelling people as anti-national if they question the government. He said he wanted to ask people why they watch this “debate TV” when they learn nothing. People should be worried if journalists are stopped from reporting and are beaten. What happens when they realise the press has been silenced and they don’t know what is happening in the nation?
