Ice ice Durga: Pay Rs 600 and get gyaan on global warming free of cost
It is Durga Puja and time for all the crazy idol design ideas. If you have seen the Didi Durga (Mamata Banerjee’s Durga idol), and think you have seen it all, you are mistaken.
Here’s presenting a Durga idol sculpted entirely in ice. At Kolkata’s Axis Mall, an entertainment company, is a “Goddess Durga made of Ice”. The idol is 13 feet by 10 feet, wholly sculpted in ice, and has been made by a Delhi-based studio, with American technology.
The organisers claim that the ice idol was made with the aim of sensitising people to the issue of global warming and melting snowcaps. And guess what: To keep the idol from melting it has been kept in a hall with a temperature of minus 50 degree Celsius. The tickets are priced at Rs 600 per person. The idol will be on display for the entire month of October, and visitors are allowed to do darshan nine hours every day.
