Jung submits resignation from LG office

Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung’s every public move has been followed for months now thanks to his repeated clashes with the Delhi’s Aam Aadmi Party-led government. But no one had expected the news that came in earlier today. Jung submitted his resignation to the Government of India, thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “all the help and cooperation” he received during the tenure as the Delhi LG.

Since 2015, there has been a slug fest between Jung and Kejriwal. Despite this, in the statement released by the Raj Niwas, Jung has thanked Kejriwal “for his association.” Jung has said that he would return to “his first love, which is, academics.” Before being appointed as Delhi LG, Jung was the vice chancellor of Jamia Milia Islamia University.

Now that Jung has quit, everyone’s got two questions: what made Jung quit and is the ‘jung’ in Delhi really over?
