DU, IIT Delhi and other educational institute websites hacked by Pakistan’s PHC
Hackers who identified themselves as a Pakistan-based group called PHC have hacked the Delhi University official website. The message at the top of the university’s main page said “Stuck By PHC” – “Greetings Government of India and the people of India.” They further mentioned the Kashmir crisis and claimed that “Kashmir will be Pakistan”. The message is written on a black background with white text. It puts forward several questions including, “what has the people in Kashmir done to India? Why are your soldiers there even?”
The Pakistan Haxors Crew, are considered rookies and are called ‘script kiddies’ or those who don’t write their own code and use existing scripts to hack into websites. Earlier in 2016, they had supposedly hacked over 7,000 Indian websites.
The alarm was raised by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad national media convenor Saket Bahuguna. “The university cannot even take care of one website and they are planning to conduct the online [post graduate entrance] test,” said Bahuguna in a message.
We reached out Dean of Students’ Welfare JM Khurana who said that he is not aware of the hacking.
Interestingly, in a Facebook post, the PHC claimed that it wasn’t only DU’s website that was hacked but several other educational institutes — including Aligarh Muslim University.
